Citroën and Gaz de France sign a partnership agreement
for the development of natural gas vehicles
For several years now, Citroën and Gaz de France have been developing clean vehicle technologies, for vehicles running on natural gas in particular.
An abundant, ecological and low-cost fossil energy, natural gas already fuels more than three million vehicles across the world. In France, 1,500 buses running on natural gas operate in most of its major cities, and their success is growing.
Convinced of the future of natural gas as a vehicle fuel, Gaz de France and Citroën have decided to pool their know-how and their technical expertise to develop a product range for private owners.
The C3 1.4i CNG, emblem of the partnership
Citroën is presenting the C3 1.4i CNG at the 2004 Paris Motor Show. It will be launched in the first half of 2005.
Of elegant design, this new model addresses the economic and environmental concerns of a wide range of customers. Natural gas reduces CO2 emissions by 20% compared with petrol and emits no sulphur dioxide or lead. What’s more, the C3 has a friendly architecture and offers safety features and equipment with strong customer appeal.
A natural gas filling station … in your home!
Gaz de France’s research into the use of natural gas as a credible alternative vehicle fuel has led to growing use of natural gas vehicles by local authorities and corporate fleets. Today, Gaz de France is examining the feasibility of home refuelling systems for the Citroën C3 1.4i CNG.
Within the next few months, Gaz de France household customers will be able to refuel their natural gas vehicle inside their own garage by means of a small purpose-built compressor.
This practical and time-saving new system, reserved until now for corporate customers, will offer greater comfort and convenience to car owners. Drivers will be able to refuel their car in their own garage, whenever its suits them and in total safety.
